Locations
Atopic Dermatitis—often called eczema—is a common skin condition that usually starts in childhood but can appear at any age. People with the condition have areas of skin that become inflamed, itchy, red, and sometimes infected.
Scratching can lead to more irritation, worsening symptoms in a cycle that’s tough to break. Skin bacteria can lead to infections requiring antibiotics and over time certain bacteria can become resistant making some infections harder to treat.
Atopic dermatitis or eczema can affect everyday life by causing discomfort, lack of sleep, and sometimes social or emotional stress—especially in children who might miss school days or feel self-conscious about their skin.
Current treatments include topical creams and corticosteroids, but these options don’t always provide lasting relief so there is a need for more effective treatment.
Momentum is conducting a clinical research study exploring a potential new topical gel, designed to reduce inflammation, itch and possible skin infection. The study treatment is made from a natural plant-based sources and is designed to target multiple factors in atopic dermatitis including bacteria that cause skin infections and substances in the skin that trigger swelling and itching.
Each participant will apply either the active study gel or a placebo gel twice daily to the affected areas for about 16 weeks.
At each visit, the research staff will check skin condition, ask about any changes in how you or your child are feeling and may perform a small skin swab if you have signs of infection.
Throughout the duration of the study, you or your child will receive study-related care and be monitored closely by our professional medical team.
If you think you or your child might benefit—or if you’re interested in contributing to the development of new atopic dermatitis treatments, then please register your interest in this study and one of our team will be in contact to answer any questions.
