Cardiovascular Study

Sunshine Melbourne

Are you at high risk for a heart attack or stroke but have never experienced one?

Momentum Clinical Research are evaluating a potential new treatment that aims to prevent first major cardiovascular events in individuals with elevated levels of Lipoprotein(a) – a type of cholesterol that can increase your risk of heart disease.

Participants will be reimbursed to cover for travel, parking, meals and other expenses associated with the research project.

This study will be conducted at Momentum Sunshine.

Description

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a long-term condition that affects the heart and blood vessels. It often develops quietly overtime and increases the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes.

For some people, this risk exists despite living a healthy lifestyle. They exercise, eat well, and do everything "right" - but still face danger due to factors beyond their control.

One of these factors is elevated lipoprotein(a), or Lp(a) – a genetic condition that cannot be improved through lifestyle modifications like diet or exercise.

Many people don’t know if they have high Lp(a), because it’s not routinely tested in standard cholesterol panels. It’s considered a form of high cholesterol, but it behaves differently. The medications typically used to lower high cholesterol do not effectively reduce Lp(a) levels. As a result, individuals with elevated Lp(a) may remain unaware of their increased risk.

There are currently no approved treatments for high Lp(a). This lack of options can be deeply frustrating and emotionally draining for those trying their best to stay healthy.

Momentum Clinical Research is exploring new treatments that target Lp(a) and reduce the risk of first-time cardiovascular events – offering new hope to people living with this risk.

What to expect

This research study aims to elevate a potential new treatment designed to reduce the risk of a first major cardiovascular event such as a heart attack or stroke, in people with elevated cardiovascular risk. The treatment specially targets Lipoprotein(a), a genetic risk factor that current medications do not directly address.

Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the study treatment or a placebo. Throughout the study, participants will attend regular visits for health monitoring and support from out experienced medical team. Participants will also be on stable and optimized lipid-lowering therapy.

Register your interest now to find out if you are eligible to participate in this study and help develop potential new treatment options for those living with elevated Lp(a) levels and are at higher risk of first time cardiovascular events.
