Description

Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is a highly contagious viral infection. Each year, millions of people worldwide experience symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, fatigue, and headaches. While most people recover within a week or two, influenza can cause serious complications, particularly in older adults, young children, and those with underlying health conditions. Beyond the physical impact, the flu can disrupt daily routines, limit work and social life, and place a heavy burden on families and communities during seasonal outbreaks.

Current treatments for influenza include antiviral medications, which may shorten illness duration, and seasonal vaccines, which help reduce the risk of infection. However, the flu virus changes frequently, meaning vaccines and treatments must be updated and may not always provide full protection. Clinical research is exploring new long-acting antiviral medicines and prevention strategies. These studies aim to better understand how to protect people from influenza, reduce complications, and limit the spread of infection.

This study is investigating a potential new prevention treatment to better understand how it works in the body and whether it could provide an additional way to protect people from influenza in the future.

What to expect

As a participant you will be randomly assigned to receive 3 subcutaneous injections (under the skin) of either the investigational prevention treatment or a placebo (an inactive treatment).

You will attend regular clinic visits for health assessments, such as symptom questionnaires, nasal swabs and general health monitoring.

Your safety and well-being will be closely monitored by our professional clinical team.
