Type 2 diabetes is a condition where the body can't properly control blood sugar levels due to inadequate insulin production or effectiveness. High blood sugar can eventually harm both small and large blood vessels, leading to cardiovascular issues. As of 2021, about 537 million people worldwide were living with diabetes, and projections suggest this number could increase to 783 million by 2045. Type 2 diabetes constitutes over 90% of these cases, with 80-90% of sufferers being overweight or obese.
Weight loss can significantly improve how the body uses insulin and controls blood sugar by reducing fat in the liver and pancreas. Current health guidelines stress that managing weight is vital in treating Type 2 diabetes.
We are conducting a new weight management study for adults suffering from Type 2 diabetes – The REIMAGINE-5 Research Project.
The purpose of the research project is to compare a potential new weight loss treatment called CagriSema** when compared with Tirzepatide (also known by its commercial name Mounjaro®) in people with Type 2 Diabetes.
**CagriSema is NOT available for purchase by the general public.
The research project consists of three periods:
• Screening Period: 3 weeks (approx.)
• Treatment Period: 60 weeks.
• Follow-up Period: 6 weeks.
The maximum duration of the study for each participant is 69 weeks.
Eligible participants will be provided with the corresponding treatment free of charge and will be closely monitored by our medical team throughout the research project. Additionally, they will be compensated for travel related expenses upon completion of each scheduled clinic visit.
