Press Release
Momentum Clinical Research supports RSV awareness week and begins recruitment for new vaccine study.
Momentum Clinical Research is proud to support RSV Awareness Week by highlighting the growing impact of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in Australia. With a significant surge in RSV cases this year, Momentum’s sites are actively recruiting participants for two RSV vaccine studies and preparing to launch an RSV treatment study. This critical research aims to bring effective solutions to vulnerable populations, especially older adults, as Australia faces rising RSV cases during the winter season.

RSV awareness week
This week, Momentum Clinical Research is proud to support RSV Awareness Week, bringing attention to the rise in Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) cases across Australia. With RSV cases already surging this year, Momentum’s sites are actively recruiting participants for two RSV vaccine studies and are preparing to initiate a new RSV treatment study.
RSV is a highly contagious respiratory virus that often presents with symptoms resembling a common cold but can escalate into severe respiratory illness, especially in vulnerable populations such as infants and older adults. For those with compromised health or weakened immune systems there is an increased risk of RSV leading to complications like pneumonia and can be fatal.
Momentum Clinical Research is researching a promising vaccine designed to prevent RSV infection in adults over 60. This research is particularly crucial as RSV cases have shown an unprecedented increase in recent months. In fact, nearly two-thirds of the total RSV cases recorded in 2023 have already been surpassed in 2024, with experts predicting a continued rise as Australia enters the colder months.
This vaccine study offers new hope for vulnerable populations facing this pervasive illness. The research being conducted at our sites will contribute valuable data to help develop a vaccine that will help reduce the impact of RSV on communities.
Through our ongoing studies, Momentum Clinical Research remains dedicated to advancing medical solutions and supporting awareness initiatives that protect public health.
