Sue McConnell
Chief People Officer
Sue is a passionate Chief People Officer with 30 years of experience partnering with leaders to drive results through their teams. She brings expertise across a wide range of areas, including people strategy, high-performance culture, industrial relations, leadership coaching, organisational change, mergers and acquisitions, generalist HR, and learning and development.
A key focus of Sue’s work is understanding human behaviour—why people act the way they do, and how to influence behaviour for different outcomes. Her dedication to this subject is reflected in her coaching, where she helps leaders at all levels, from first-time managers to CEOs, better engage and inspire their teams.
Having worked in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the US, Sue has found that the challenges and opportunities of people leadership transcend geographical and industry boundaries. Her experience spans industries as diverse as elite sport, media, construction, banking, and technology, with one constant: success always comes down to effective people leadership.
In addition to her role at Momentum, Sue serves as a Director on the Paddle Australia Board, where she is helping to foster a high-performance culture for Olympic and Paralympic teams, supporting athletes not only in their sporting careers but also in life beyond. She is equally passionate about engaging recreational paddlers and promoting grassroots involvement in the sport.
Outside of work, Sue’s love for the outdoors fuels her personal life. She enjoys hiking, running, and cycling, and is currently embracing the challenge of learning to sail.
